About Allswell

Allswell is a virtual therapy practice built for LGBTQ+ people and the communities that support them. Our therapists specialize in trauma-informed, affirming care, and they come to this work with a real understanding of the experiences LGBTQ+ people may carry into a session. That means less time explaining yourself, and more time on what actually brought you to therapy.

Our Story
Dawn Androphy and Connor Gordon met in 2017 and quickly discovered a shared commitment to LGBTQ+ advocacy. They volunteered together at Out for Undergrad, a nonprofit supporting LGBTQ+ college students, and co-planned one of the organization's national conferences in 2019.
As their individual careers grew, they kept coming back to the same question: why is it still so hard for LGBTQ+ people to find therapy that truly understands them? There were talented, informed therapists out there, but the systems around them weren't built to make that care easy to find or afford.
That frustration became the foundation of Allswell: a practice grounded in clinical expertise, community trust, and real access to care. Today, Allswell's clinical direction is shaped by Dr. Mike Parent, whose research focuses on LGBTQ+ mental health.
Our mission
Allswell exists to radically expand access to affirming, affordable mental health care for LGBTQ+ communities through individual and group-based therapy, community connection, and culturally competent support.
Our vision
We're working toward a world where every LGBTQ+ person has the support they need to move out of survival mode into a full life, regardless of where they live, how much they make, or how they identify.
What We Value

Affirming care as the baseline
Every Allswell clinician actively affirms clients' identities, experiences, and chosen language. This includes honoring gender, sexual orientation, race, disability, neurodiversity, and all aspects of a person's lived experience. It's the foundation that everything else we do is built on.

Curiosity and humility
No one knows everything, and we don't pretend to. Our clinicians ask the real questions, own their mistakes, and keep learning. We've built a culture where vulnerability is a strength and growth is ongoing.

Evidence-based care
Our therapy programs are clinically designed and research-informed, but they're also grounded in real people's lives. We believe in structured approaches, measurable outcomes, and showing up with intention.

Community as part of the work
We combine individual therapy with group spaces where LGBTQ+ people can process, connect, and heal alongside others who understand their experiences. Therapy doesn't happen in isolation, and neither does recovery.

Supportive clinical culture
Every clinician at Allswell has access to supervision, peer learning, and clinical advisory support. We'd rather someone ask for guidance than guess through a difficult moment. That's how we grow stronger together.

Clinician well-being
We're building a practice where therapists can thrive financially, emotionally, and professionally. That means meaningful work, real support, and a mission that aligns with the reasons most of our clinicians entered this field.

How it works
1.
Book a free consultation
Start by scheduling a brief call with one of our Care Coordinators. This is a chance to share what you're looking for, ask questions, and get matched with a therapist who fits your needs, preferences, and schedule. Consultations are typically 15 to 20 minutes.
2.
Get matched to your therapist
Based on your consultation, we'll connect you with a therapist who specializes in what you're going through. If the fit doesn't feel right after a session or two, we'll help you find someone who feels better.
3.
Start therapy from wherever you are
All sessions happen through secure, HIPAA-compliant video. You can meet with your therapist from home, your car, your office, or wherever feels most comfortable and private.
4.
Stay supported along the way
Before your first session, our team will verify your insurance and walk you through what to expect cost-wise. If you have Medicaid, your sessions are fully covered. Most clients with commercial insurance pay between $10 and $25 per session.

Allswell specializes in therapy for LGBTQ+ adults across a wide range of experiences and identities, including people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, pansexual, queer, transgender, nonbinary, gender-diverse, and questioning. We also welcome anyone looking for a supportive, inclusive therapy environment, regardless of how they identify.
You may be dealing with anxiety, depression, or trauma. You may be working through a relationship challenge, a family conflict, or an identity question that's hard to talk about with people in your life. You may be carrying the cumulative weight of living in spaces that aren't always affirming, even if you can't quite name what that's doing to you. Whatever is bringing you here, you don't have to have it figured out.
We currently serve clients physically located in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC, and we accept Medicaid and many major commercial insurance plans in all three areas.

Co-Founder & CEO
(she/her)
Dawn has spent over 13 years organizing with LGBTQ+ communities, including Lambert House and Out for Undergrad, where she designed mentorship programs and facilitated peer support groups. That work gave her a close-up view of how hard it can be for LGBTQ+ people to find mental health care that actually fits their lives.
Before co-founding Allswell, she worked at Microsoft and Boston Consulting Group. She holds an MBA from Stanford University Graduate School of Business and a B.A. in American History from the University of Pennsylvania.

Co-Founder & CEO
(he/him)
Connor has spent his career making complicated, heavily regulated industries easier for people to navigate, first in real estate at Redfin, then in personal finance at Scout.
At Allswell, he brings that same approach to mental health care, designing systems that put as little friction as possible between people and the support they need. He's a Duke University graduate and has been involved in LGBTQ+ advocacy throughout his career.

(he/him)
Brian brings nearly a decade of experience scaling products at high-growth companies, including Attentive, GOAT, and Rev.com. He connected with the Allswell team through years of friendship with both co-founders and joined because the mission aligned with work he wanted to be doing. His focus is on growing the practice thoughtfully as Allswell expands into new states and service areas.
